The Importance of Annual Fund Giving
Annual giving is tremendously important to St. Martin’s Day School. Gifts to the annual fund support every area of
the school’s operation, providing the resources we need for operating expenses such as financial aid, capital
improvements, information technology and modern equipment for our classrooms and campus.
Your gift every year is extremely important. We hope you will consider a gift to the St. Martin’s in-the-Field Day
School Annual Fund. Donations of any size are welcomed and greatly appreciated.
Tax-Saving Ways to Give
The Annual Fund offers parents, grandparents, and other friends of the School the option of voluntarily supporting
the School by making tax-deductible gifts. Every child benefits from a successful Annual Giving Fund.
Check - Send a check made payable to St. Martin’s-in-the-Field Day School. Gifts of cash are fully
deductible up to a maximum of 50 percent of your adjusted gross income.
Appreciated Securities - The gift of stock offers more than one tax savings. The donor receives a charitable
deduction for the fair market value of the stock and also avoids the capital gains tax on the appreciated value.
Gifts of stock are fully deductible up to a maximum of 30 percent of your adjusted gross income. The stock must be
held for a minimum of one year. Contact the Development Office for information at (410)544-7167.
Real Estate - Gifts of real estate can also offer significant tax benefits, similar to those available for
gifts of stock.
Matching Gifts – More than 1,000 employers match donations to independent schools. Matching gifts from your
employer can double the size of your gift. Contact the personnel office of your employer for the matching gift
form.
Consult with your own professional tax advisor to learn how this general information relates to your individual
circumstances.
