FLU INFORMATION
Anne Arundel County Public Schools and the Department of Health advise that symptoms are similar for both the seasonal flu virus and the H1N1 virus. Symptoms include a fever of 100 degrees Fahrenheit or higher, cough, sore throat, runny or stuffy nose, body aches, headache, chills, and fatigue. Children with fever should remain at home until they are fever-free for 24 hours (without the use of fever-reducing medicines). Have a family plan in case children or parents get sick and need to stay home. We are monitoring children’s absences and keeping track of the number of children that are out with flu-like symptoms. If you think your child has influenza, please notify Harriet Petrocelli (ext. 32) or Alice Leigh (ext. 14): 410-647-7055. Seasonal flu, H1N1, and common colds are best combated with regular hand washing and good hygiene. Keep hands away from face. Sneeze into sleeves, not just your hand. Do not share cups or utensils.
