Athletic Mission Statement
St. Martin’s in-the-Field will provide each student-athlete with an opportunity to practice in a safe environment that encourages self-discipline, responsibility, school pride, good sportsmanship, and friendship.
Our student-athletes will be allowed to seek, through athletic achievement, their own personal identity. It is our mission that each student-athlete completes each competition and athletic season with a strong sense of fulfillment, dedication, and development of self esteem.
All middle school students will have an equal opportunity to fully participate in athletics and will be encouraged to do so. Participation of students in the fifth grade will be at the discretion of the Athletic Director along with input from the coaching staff.
We will provide our student-athletes with coaches who will first and foremost be teachers of their given sport and supportive of the St. Martin’s mission of good sportsmanship and healthy competition.
Success, school unity and pride are greatly enhanced by student participation in school sponsored athletics.
A LETTER FROM THE ATHLETIC DIRECTOR, BETZ WILD
In the past year St. Martin’s has jumped into the exciting field of interscholastic sports. We offer the following sports to enhance the experience of our students: soccer, field hockey, basketball, lacrosse. Our first fall season included 17 girls on the field hockey team and 15 boys and girls on our coed soccer team. We hosted several schools for home games including a very exciting double header Homecoming event preceded by an all school pep rally. Our basketball season is underway and we currently have 30 students playing basketball for St. Martin’s!
The athletic program reflects our school’s valued traditions of fair play, cooperation, sportsmanship, and respect. Participation provides an opportunity for students to learn what it means to be a teammate, to share in the excitement of competition, and to enjoy the pride of victory.
Sincerely,
Betz Wild
