An international school offers international education by adopting an international curriculum as the IB (International Baccalaureate) or the American/British curriculum that are different from the school’s country of location.

International schools in Bangkok do not come cheap. The costs do not stop at only the tuition fee. There are expensive foreign trips, technology fee, boarding fee among others.  With so many costs, most parents in Thailand wonder whether it’s really worth taking a child to an international school. Well, at St. martin’s day school still think it is.  Here are some benefits of taking your kids to international schools.

Strong Language skills

Most international schools use English as the primary language of instruction because the learners are often from different countries. English is usually the only way to communicate in and outside the classroom. Therefore, your child will be exposed to a truly international environment. Should your child want to join a foreign college they will be better equipped.

A lot of international schools nowadays also offer other world languages such as French, Chinese and German. In addition, the language of the host country is also taught. Therefore, your child is able to expand his language skills which will help them in future.

Extracurricular activities

International schools provide learners with different opportunities to improve their skills and abilities not just in academics. All year round, international schools provide your child with different activities they can engage in.

An opportunity to experience different cultures

International schools enroll learners from different countries and cultures.  With such diversity, there is bound to be lots of different cultural exchanges among learners. Some of these occur unintentionally while others are intentional. Students are able to appreciate cultural diversity among others and this makes them better citizens globally.

Low student to teacher ratio

International schools have a very minimal student-teacher ratio. In most cases, it is usually less than 30 students per teacher. If a class for that year is full, your child will be put on a waiting list until a chance opens up. A low student to teacher ratio means that the teacher is able to give every student enough attention when necessary. If a learner doesn’t understand a concept taught, the teacher will notice easily.
